The Krewe of Centaur is opening its doors to the public for a rare behind-the-scenes look at Mardi Gras magic during its annual Float Loading Party, themed “Centaur is a Work of Art Float Loading,” on Friday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

This free, family-friendly event offers the public a unique opportunity to get up close with Centaur’s parade floats before they roll on Parade Day. Guests will be able to see the creativity, craftsmanship, and teamwork that go into preparing each float, as members finalize designs, load beads, and bring this year’s parade theme — “Centaur is a Work of Art” — to life.

Each Krewe of Centaur float represents its own artistic interpretation of the overall parade theme, making Float Loading not just a logistical milestone, but a celebration of creativity and tradition. Attendees will have the chance to walk through the den, meet float members, and experience firsthand the dedication behind one of the region’s most anticipated Mardi Gras parades.

Food trucks will be on site throughout the evening, creating a festive atmosphere for guests of all ages.

In addition to the general public event, the Krewe of Centaur will offer a VIP Experience from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for those looking for an enhanced experience. VIP tickets are $40 per person and include a guided tour of the floats, a specialty bead, and a meet-and-greet with Centaur royalty.

“Float Loading is where months of planning, creativity, and hard work truly come together,” said Michele Ringe, Events Chair for the Krewe of Centaur. “By opening this event to the public, we’re excited to share the artistry and community spirit that make Mardi Gras so special in Shreveport-Bossier.”

The Krewe of Centaur Float Loading Party serves as one of the final milestones leading up to Parade Day and is a favorite tradition for members and spectators alike.
