1. What is The Krewe of Centaur?
Krewe of Centaur is one of the largest Mardi Gras krewes in north Louisiana, bringing parades, parties, and community events to the heart of Shreveport. Founded in 1991, we are a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the spirit of Mardi Gras through fun, fellowship, and philanthropy. Each year, the Krewe of Centaur Parade attracts thousands of visitors to the SBC, offering family-friendly entertainment with dazzling floats, costumed riders, and plenty of beads! We host exclusive bals, charitable fundraisers, and community outreach that make a lasting impact each season.
2. Where is The Krewe of Centaur located?
The Den address for The Krewe of Centaur is 351 Aero Dr., Shreveport, LA 71107. It is not open to the public, as visits are scheduled ahead of time.
4. When are upcoming Krewe of Centaur parades?
The parade is held two Saturdays (10 days) before Fat Tuesday. The parade begins rolling at 3 pm.
2026: Parade on February 7, 2026 (Fat Tuesday is February 17, 2026)
2027: Parade on January 30, 2027 (Fat Tuesday is February 9, 2027)
5. How has the parade grown over the years?
The Krewe of Centaur Mardi Gras Parade has grown to become the largest parade in the Ark-La-Tex and one of the largest single parading krewes in the state of Louisiana. It has gotten bigger and better every year.
6. What should I bring to the Krewe of Centaur parade?
While waiting for the parade to roll, many bring a list of things to pass the time, and also make it a fun time for all involved. Those include things like:
- Chairs and/or pop up tent
- Food, snacks, and drinks
- Games or toys for the kids
- Bag or bucket to put throws in
7. Can anyone become a member of the Krewe of Centaur?
Yes, we accept adults and children ages 8 and up.
8. How do I become a member of the Krewe of Centaur?
There are a few ways you can begin your membership process:
- You can click the "Make a Payment" button on this website, and make your membership dues payment. Once completed, our membership chair will reach out to get you assigned to a float family.

9. What is required to become a member?
Being a member of the Krewe of Centaur can be rewarding for everyone. The fellowship, fun, and community outreach is just some of the benefits of being a member. Every member is required to pay a membership due of $150 (for adults) or $50 (for children 17 or under by parade day for the season). Each member that will also be participating in riding on parade day will also be required to purchase a throw/bead package.
